An environmentally friendly electronic water treatment system, that has enormous potential for the treatment of any water type, ranging from potable water, industrial waste water, AMD to saline water.

For many years, Conequipt has been manufacturing Ozone Generators The success of these ozone generators led to these generators being employed into the water treatment industry. Ozone gas is well known for its sterilizing properties and has been used for the treatment of water for many decades.

After much development and research, Conequipt has now invented a new and innovative water treatment system, HYDROTRON, which is internationally patented.

The Hydrotron equipment is an electronic device that alters some of the water molecules, as they pass over the specially designed electrodes to form Hydroxyl Radicals from the water being treated. In addition the Hydrotron system employs ultrasonic vibrations which dramatically enhances the effects of the chemical reactions that are responsible for sterilsation and improvement within the reaction cell.

The Hydrotron water treatment system has been tested over the past few years, and has a non-discriminatory effect on water bourne bacteria. Test conducted for the sterilization of sewage effluent water in conjunction with the Cape Town Municipality, have shown a 99% eradication of all water bourne bacteria. Tests conducted by the Public Utility Board of Singapore have shown that the Hydrotron water treatment system is capable of algae eradication. Additional tests have shown that the Hydrotron equipment can also be applied to the removal of heavy metals. The Hydrotron system works well in electro-coagulation treatment removing dissolved solids from suspension as well as for electro flocking applications.

Benefits of the Hydrotron Water Treatment systems are that, no additional chemicals are required and water treatment through the Hydrotron method is safer and healthier for ingestion than conventional chemical treatment processes. The Hydrotron system requires very little power to operate effectively. The Hydrotron equipment can easily be adapted to run on solar power, an additional environmental advantage.

Several different models of the Hydrotron water treatment equipment are available.
The only consumable item on the Hydrotron water treatment system are the electrodes.The electrodes can be changed by an unskilled person. Sacrificial electrodes may require more frequent changing.

Research into the potential of the Hydrotron equipment is ongoing, with additional applications in the field of phosphate removal, nitrate removal and eventually desalination of saline water.
